About Hakomi

A mindfulness-based, somatic approach to therapy

Hakomi is a gentle, experiential form of therapy that focuses on your present moment experience.

Rather than only talking about your life, we slow things down and pay attention to what is happening inside you as it’s happening. This includes your thoughts, emotions, and the subtle ways your body responds.

What this looks like in practice

In a session, we might pause and notice something small.

A shift in your breath.
A place in your body that tightens.
A moment where you begin to move away from what you’re feeling.

Instead of moving past it, we stay with it.

With enough time and attention, deeper patterns begin to reveal themselves.

How change happens

In Hakomi, change doesn’t come from forcing insight or trying to fix something.

It comes from experiencing yourself in a new way, in real time, with support.

When something that has been out of awareness becomes felt and understood, there is often a natural shift.

My experience with this work

I came to Hakomi after experiencing its effectiveness as a client.

I had tried traditional talk therapy several times, but it wasn’t until I worked in this way that I felt a meaningful shift in how I experienced myself.

That experience continues to shape how I work today.

Is this the right fit?

Hakomi tends to resonate with people who are:

  • thoughtful and self aware
  • open to slowing down
  • curious about their internal experience
  • looking for something deeper than traditional talk therapy
